The Mitsubishi PAA Series Zuba-Hybrid Cased Coil is the solution for homeowners who want the efficiency of a Mitsubishi heat pump without replacing their existing furnace. The PAA cased coil installs in-line with your current gas or propane furnace — the heat pump handles heating and cooling for most of the year, and the furnace automatically takes over on the coldest days when supplemental heat is needed. The result is dramatically lower energy costs, improved comfort, and a system that's built for Canadian winters. Available in 18,000 to 36,000 BTU across three cabinet widths — 14.5", 17.5", and 21" — to fit virtually any furnace. This page is for the indoor cased coil unit and installation only. A compatible outdoor unit must be purchased separately. A controller is also required and is not included. Price includes up to 20 ft of lineset with standard professional installation.
The PAA cased coil sits on top of your existing furnace, inline with your duct system. A control box manages automatic switchover between the heat pump and your furnace based on outdoor temperature:
- Spring, summer, fall, and mild winter days — the Mitsubishi heat pump runs efficiently, delivering heating and cooling at a fraction of the cost of gas
- Coldest winter days — when outdoor temps drop below the heat pump's efficient range, the system automatically switches to your gas furnace for backup heat
- No manual switching required — the intelligent control handles everything automatically
