MAXAIR High-Velocity Hydronic Air Handler – ECM
See your exact payment → · How financing works

The MAXAIR "e" high-velocity air handler delivers boiler heat and central air through small 2½-inch ducts that fit inside your walls, which makes it a strong choice for older and finished homes without room for conventional ductwork. Hot water from your boiler runs through a copper coil and an ECM blower pushes air through the FLEXAIR small-duct system. Made in Ontario by AirMax Technologies, it heats from 39,382 to 98,593 BTU/h (at 180°F water). Standard installation by Bison Air is included in every price.
- ✓ Standard installation included across Toronto & GTA
- ✓ Small 2½-inch ducts: minimal bulkheads
- ✓ ECM blower for low-cost continuous circulation
- ✓ Cooling-coil ready: 1 to 3 tons, depending on model
- ✓ Financing available, with no upfront payment options
📏 Choose Your Model
| Model | Heating @ 180°F (BTU/h) | Airflow (CFM) | Cooling coil (tons) | 2½" outlets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MAX-30-E | 39,382 | 350 | 1.0 | 7–11 |
| MAX-50-E | 55,649 | 580 | 1.0–2.0 | 13–17 |
| MAX-70-E | 77,981 | 750 | 2.0–2.5 | 16–20 |
| MAX-100-E | 98,593 | 950 | 2.5–3.0 | 19–25 |
Airflow rated at 1.5 in. external static pressure. The number of outlets is set by the model and the cooling load; we lay them out during the in-home assessment.
🔥 Heating Output by Water Temperature (BTU/h)
| Model | 180°F water | 160°F water | 140°F water | 130°F water |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MAX-30-E | 39,382 | 32,159 | 24,951 | 21,356 |
| MAX-50-E | 55,649 | 44,700 | 35,195 | 30,250 |
| MAX-70-E | 77,981 | 58,902 | 46,278 | 41,000 |
| MAX-100-E | 98,593 | 80,666 | 62,741 | 53,500 |
💡 Sized for your real water temperature. Air handler output is published at 180°F water, but modern condensing boilers run most efficiently at lower temperatures. Output drops as water temperature drops (see the table above), so we size the air handler against your boiler's design water temperature and your home's heat loss, not the 180°F number.
🏠 Is High-Velocity Right for Your Home?
- ✓ Older homes, century homes and finished houses with no room for conventional ducts
- ✓ Homes heated by radiators or in-floor heat that want central air and ducted heat
- ✓ Additions and renovations where you want to keep walls and ceilings intact
- ✓ Homes with a boiler or combi boiler already in place
Have standard ductwork? A low-velocity unit is usually the better fit: see the MAXAIR LV with ECM.
✅ Key Features
- ✓ ECM brushless DC blower: more efficient than a standard motor, especially at low speed, so continuous fan for filtration and even temperatures costs little to run
- ✓ FLEXAIR 2½-inch insulated branch ducts fit inside a standard 2×4 wall, so there are few bulkheads or soffits
- ✓ Outlets in walls, ceilings or floors, each fully adjustable
- ✓ Compact: less than a third of the space of a conventional system (manufacturer); fits a laundry room, closet, attic or crawl space
- ✓ Multi-position: vertical or horizontal airflow, with four return-air location choices
- ✓ Optional DX cooling coil with self-adjusting TXV and freezestat for central air
- ✓ Copper heating coil with aluminum fins; coil and blower slide out for service

🔧 What Standard Installation Includes
- ✓ Air handler set in place (vertical or horizontal, as the space requires)
- ✓ Connected to your existing boiler heating loop and ductwork near the unit
- ✓ FLEXAIR 2½-inch branch ducts and outlets, as quoted for your layout
- ✓ Electrical connection to an existing 120 V circuit
- ✓ Thermostat connected and tested
- ✓ Startup, air purge, water flow and airflow check
- ✓ 1-year labour warranty and warranty registration
Quoted as extras when needed: a new boiler or water heater, a circulator pump if your system does not already have one, new piping runs to the boiler, ductwork or plenum changes, an air conditioner and cooling coil, and electrical upgrades. We check your boiler, piping and ductwork before the job, and every extra is quoted in writing before work starts.
No built-in pump: MAXAIR air handlers use a separate circulator with check valve on the boiler loop. An air handler needs a boiler, combi boiler or other hot-water source; it does not make heat on its own. Need a boiler too? See boiler installation and combi boiler installation.
🛡️ Warranty
- ✓ Manufacturer: 1 year parts and labour, plus an additional 12 months on parts, where applicable (AirMax Technologies)
- ✓ Labour: 1 year from Bison Air, included
Manufacturer terms: using the air handler for temporary heat during construction voids the warranty, and a clogged or missing filter may void it. Replace or clean the filter regularly.
