MAXAIR P2/P3 Zoned High-Velocity hydronic air handler by AirMax Technologies, installed by Bison Air in Toronto & GTA

The MAXAIR P2/P3 is a zoned high-velocity hydronic air handler: one unit heats and cools 2 zones (P2) or 3 zones (P3), each with its own thermostat, using factory-installed zone dampers and controls. Boiler heat and central air reach each room through small 2½-inch ducts that fit inside your walls, driven by an ECM blower. Made in Ontario by AirMax Technologies, it heats from 55,649 to 98,593 BTU/h (at 180°F water). Standard installation by Bison Air is included in every price.

  • ✓ Standard installation included across Toronto & GTA
  • ✓ 2 or 3 zones from one air handler, controls factory installed
  • ✓ ECM blower with 2-stage heating
  • ✓ Small 2½-inch ducts: minimal bulkheads
  • ✓ Financing available, with no upfront payment options

Model Zones Heating @ 180°F (BTU/h) Airflow (CFM) Cooling coil (tons)
MAX-50-E-P2 2 55,649 580 1.5–2.0
MAX-70-E-P2 2 77,981 750 2.0–2.5

MAX-100-E-P3 3 98,593 950 2.5–3.0

Airflow rated at 1.5 in. external static pressure. Heating output is the same for P2 and P3 at each size; the difference is the number of zones and the control features.

MAX-100-E-P3 98,593 80,666 62,741 53,500

💡 Sized for your real water temperature. Air handler output is published at 180°F water, but modern condensing boilers run most efficiently at lower temperatures. Output drops as water temperature drops (see the table above), so we size the air handler against your boiler's design water temperature and your home's heat loss, not the 180°F number.

🔀 P2 vs P3: What the "P" Means

"P" stands for zone prioritization. The zone panel and motorized zone dampers are installed at the factory, so one air handler can heat and cool separate areas of the home, each on its own thermostat.

P2 — 2 zones

2-zone panel, two 8-inch supply connections. 2-stage heating, single-stage cooling.

P3 — 3 zones

3-zone panel with plenum temperature sensor, display and adjustable high/low limit. 2-stage heating and cooling, staged by plenum temperature.

A thermostat is needed for each zone. Zones that are not calling close to a minimum position. Allow about two extra outlets per zone. The P models do not include a pump or domestic hot water control; those stay with your boiler system.

🏠 Is High-Velocity Right for Your Home?

  • ✓ Older homes, century homes and finished houses with no room for conventional ducts
  • ✓ Homes heated by radiators or in-floor heat that want central air and ducted heat
  • ✓ Additions and renovations where you want to keep walls and ceilings intact
  • ✓ Homes with a boiler or combi boiler already in place

Have standard ductwork? A low-velocity unit is usually the better fit: see the MAXAIR LV with ECM.

✅ Key Features

  • ✓ Factory-installed zone panel and dampers: less field wiring and labour
  • ✓ Zone priority settings handle heating and cooling calls from different zones
  • ✓ ECM brushless DC blower with multiple airflow settings
  • ✓ P3 plenum sensor stages heating and cooling and protects the cooling coil from frosting
  • ✓ FLEXAIR 2½-inch insulated branch ducts fit inside a standard 2×4 wall, so there are few bulkheads or soffits
  • ✓ Outlets in walls, ceilings or floors, each fully adjustable
  • ✓ Multi-position: vertical or horizontal airflow, with four return-air location choices
  • ✓ Optional DX cooling coil with self-adjusting TXV and freezestat for central air

🔧 What Standard Installation Includes

  • ✓ Air handler set in place (vertical or horizontal, as the space requires)
  • ✓ Connected to your existing boiler heating loop and ductwork near the unit
  • ✓ FLEXAIR 2½-inch branch ducts and outlets, as quoted for your layout
  • ✓ Zone thermostats connected and each zone tested
  • ✓ Electrical connection to an existing 120 V circuit
  • ✓ Startup, air purge, water flow and airflow check
  • ✓ 1-year labour warranty and warranty registration

Quoted as extras when needed: a new boiler or water heater, a circulator pump if your system does not already have one, new piping runs to the boiler, ductwork or plenum changes, extra thermostats beyond one per zone, an air conditioner and cooling coil, and electrical upgrades. We check your boiler, piping and ductwork before the job, and every extra is quoted in writing before work starts.

No built-in pump: MAXAIR air handlers use a separate circulator with check valve on the boiler loop. An air handler needs a boiler, combi boiler or other hot-water source; it does not make heat on its own. Need a boiler too? See boiler installation and combi boiler installation.

🛡️ Warranty

  • ✓ Manufacturer: 1 year parts and labour, plus an additional 12 months on parts, where applicable (AirMax Technologies)
  • ✓ Labour: 1 year from Bison Air, included

Manufacturer terms: using the air handler for temporary heat during construction voids the warranty, and a clogged or missing filter may void it. Replace or clean the filter regularly.
