🧩 How Buying a Multi-Zone System Works
1. Pick the outdoor unit
Choose a brand and an outdoor unit with enough zones and capacity for the rooms you want to heat and cool.
2. Add one indoor unit per room
Add an indoor unit for each room (at least two). Wall-mount, ceiling cassette, floor or ducted styles.
3. We design and install
We confirm sizing, line-set routes and outdoor placement, then install and commission the whole system.
💡 Prices are split: each outdoor unit page shows the outdoor unit plus its installation, and each indoor unit page shows the indoor unit plus its installation. Your system price is one outdoor unit plus your indoor units. Not sure how to build it? Call us and we will put the system together for you.
📏 How Many Zones and What Size?
| Rooms to heat and cool | Typical outdoor unit |
|---|---|
| 2 rooms | 18,000 BTU (2-zone) |
| 3 rooms | 18,000–28,000 BTU (3-zone) |
| 4 rooms | 24,000–36,000 BTU (4-zone) |
| 5 rooms | 36,000–42,000 BTU (5-zone) |
| 6 to 8 rooms | 48,000–60,000 BTU (6- to 8-zone) |
| Indoor unit size | Typical room |
|---|---|
| 6,000 BTU | Very small rooms or supplemental zones |
| 9,000 BTU | Small rooms (up to ~450 sq ft) |
| 12,000 BTU | Bedrooms and offices (~550–700 sq ft) |
| 18,000 BTU | Living areas (~800–1,000 sq ft) |
| 24,000 BTU | Large spaces (~1,100–1,400 sq ft) |
Rough guide only. Insulation, windows, ceiling height and sun exposure change the answer. If the indoor units add up to more than the outdoor unit's capacity, every room gets proportionally less output, so we size each room and the outdoor unit together. Mini-split sizing guide
